OUR BELIEFS

When Compassion began in a basement with only a few people back in 2010, we had a mission and a vision to reach people in our community and around the world. Whether it has been providing school supplies, clothes, food, & Christmas presents for those in need, bringing gifts to our local hospital, schools, & EMS workers, or helping build a school in Africa, Compassion has always been focused on reaching people and sharing the hope of Jesus beyond our four walls.

We've partnered with local faith-based organizations such as Stepping Out Inc., Daily Bread, KARM, MATS Shelter, and sowing into church plants to expand this mission. Our values are what we live by according to God's Word and how we will walk closer to Christ.

Statements of Faith

The Bible:

We believe that the Bible is verbally inspired of the Holy Spirit. (2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21)

The Trinity:

We believe in Triune Godhead: one God existing as three separate and distinct persons. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are eternally self-existent and function as one entity. (Matt. 3:16, 17; 28:19; John 14:16-17; 26;15:26; 2 Cor. 13:14)

Jesus Christ:

We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. We believe that He was conceived in the virgin named Mary by the Holy Spirit. Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected from the dead. He has ascended to heaven and now at the right hand of God as our Intercessor. (Luke 1:26-35; Matthew 1:18-25)

Sin:

We believe that all of us have sinned and come short of God’s glory and therefore, repentance is not only commanded by God but necessary for the forgiveness of our sin. (Mark 1:15, Luke 13:3)

Salvation:

We believe that our justification, regeneration and New Birth are made possible through our faith in Jesus’ blood. (Romans 5:1; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:23)

Holiness:

We believe that Sanctification is scriptural and that it is brought about through faith in Christ’s blood, through the washing of God’s Word and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Holiness results through a daily process of commitment. (Romans 5:2; 1 Corinthians 1:30)

The Holy Spirit:

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:44; 10:44-46)

Spiritual Gifts:

We believe in Spiritual gifts and that they should be operative In the church. (1 Corinthians 12:1, 7, 10, 28, 31; 14:1)

Marriage:

We believe in the sanctity of marriage as established by the Bible. That God created marriage, and that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22-33; 1 Corinthians 7:10-16).

Water Baptism:

We believe in water baptism by immersion as a testimony of our Conversion. We should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as Jesus said. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 1:9)

Healing:

We believe that divine healing is provided for us in the atonement. (Matthew 8:17; James 5:14-16)

Communion:

We believe in The Lord’s Supper as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice. (Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

Return of Jesus:

We believe in the pre-millennial second coming of Christ. Jesus will first resurrect the righteous dead and catch the saints away and then He will reign on the earth for a thousand years. (1 Corinthians 15:52; 1. Thessalonians 4:15-17; Jude 14,15; Revelation 5:10)

Judgement:

We believe that eternal life in heaven awaits the Saints and that eternal punishment awaits the wicked who have rejected Jesus Christ. (Matthews 25:46; Luke 18:30)

We Believe the doctrines lived out from our Statements of Faith exhibit themselves in the following ways relating to how we live and interpret different social issues and life:

We Believe that all humans are created in the image of God and therefore every individual is highly valuable. As a result, God expects all people to be treated with respect and honor. In a world that seeks to divide us over issues of race, gender, and other issues, we are called to love and encourage one another as we strive for unity (Mark 12:29-31; I John 4:19-20; Ephesians 4:1-3). Our unity is in Christ; this means that all bullying and racism whether it is physical, verbal, cyber, written, or relational is sin.

We Believe that God created humankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal personal dignity, and that the distinction in their roles is part of the God ordained order. We believe in the dignity of individual persons affirming their biological gender (sex) and discouraging any and all attempts to physically change, alter, or disagree with their biological gender (sex), including but not limited to sex-reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or gender identity disorder and related conduct. (Genesis 1:26–28; Romans 1:26–32; 1 Corinthians 6:9–11). The Bible describes this practice as sin and we must repent and change our lifestyle. When we do, He will forgive us and restore us and give us strength to live a brand new life.

We Believe that life is a gift from God and is precious. We believe that life begins at conception (Psalm 139:13-16; Isaiah 44:2a; Isaiah 49:5a) and therefore abortion is sinful and is wrongfully taking the life of another. The baby is inside of the mother's womb but is not one of her body parts, but rather a separate and distinct person with the right to be born and live. Each person’s days are numbered by God (Psalm 139:16; James 4:13-15). Like any other sin, past abortions are forgivable and one can be restored and redeemed by the love of Jesus when one repents and comes to Him.

We Believe that biblical marriage is limited to a single, exclusive covenant relationship between one man and one woman. (Genesis 1:27–28; 2:21–24, Matthew 19:4–9; Mark 10:5–9; Ephesians 5:22–33). We reject any definition of marriage other than as stated in Scripture, whether such redefinition is issued by any political, judicial, administrative, and/or public or private agency.

We Believe that the Bible condemns any form of sexual immorality and that Christians must adhere to and practice biblical standards of morality. Moral misconduct includes, but is not necessarily limited to, promiscuity, homosexuality and/or sexual orientation, bisexuality, polygamy, transgender identity, or any Biblical violation of the unique roles of male and female. (Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 18:7–23; 20:10–21; Deuteronomy 5:18; Matthew 5:27–28; 15:19; Romans 1:21-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-20). Therefore, any person violating God's commandment on marriage, non-Biblical relationships, or gender will not be able to participate in water baptism, church membership, volunteering, or hold any other title until salvation, redemption, and transformation have occurred and the individual is no longer living outside of God's will and commandments.
